Awards and Distinctions
The year 2013 brought with it a number of awards and distinctions for Budimex. Many business and professional organisations appreciated the behaviour and results demonstrated by the company. Our company also improved its position in nationwide and industry-specific rankings.
In the 11th edition of the contest organised by the editor's office and programme council of the „Builder” monthly journal, Budimex was awarded the title of the „Construction Company of the Year” in the general contractor category, while Dariusz Blocher, as president, received a distinction for efficient management of the company and its successes in 2013.
The publisher of the Nowy Przemysł monthly and wnp.pl web portal, has been awarding the „Changer of Polish Industry” title since 2000. In 2013, this prestigious distinction was awarded to Budimex. The company was recognised for consistently overcoming unfavourable tendencies in the construction industry and achieving stability in a challenging and unpredictable market environment.
The Business Superbrands Council, composed of the most important representatives of Polish business, capital markets, economic media and business brand image experts, honoured Budimex with the Business Superbrands 2013/2014 and Created in Poland Business Superbrands 2013/2014 awards in the construction industry category. The competition involved 2 thousand companies and over 15 thousand people.
In the 4th edition of Eurobuild Awards, Budimex received the title of best construction company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The awards are given to companies in the construction and real estate commercial markets. In 2013, 200 entities were nominated, and the final decision was made by a jury of 200 individuals.
The 11th edition of the Pearls of the Polish Economy Ranking, organised by the “Polish Market” journal of economic affairs, was held under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy, and the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences in 2013. Budimex was awarded the “Pearl of the Polish Economy” award in the Big Pearls category. The ranking involved 2,000 companies.
In the 14th edition of the contest organised by the Sportowa Polska club, Budimex was honoured with the Constructor of Polish Sports title, awarded for outstanding performance in the field of sports facility construction. A distinction in the “General Contractor of Sports and Recreational Facilities” category was awarded to the company for its overall performance related to the construction of such facilities in Poland,
Over 3,000 specialists and managers from across the country attended the 4th edition of the study organised by Antal International under the patronage of Business Centre Club. Their task was to identify the best employers on the Polish market. In the construction and real estate category, Budimex was ranked in the top 3 of the Most Sought-after Employers.
Apart from the awards granted to the company itself, the structures it constructed also gained recognition. In the prestigious “Construction of the Year” contest, held by the Polish Union of Building Engineers and Technicians for the 23rd time, 12 projects submitted by Budimex Group companies were granted first and second prizes. Seven structures were given level 1 awards, and five were given level 2 awards.
The construction of an extradosed bridge across the Vistula river near Kwidzyn, a pioneering project of this type in Europe, was granted a special award in the 5th edition of the Maksymilian Wolf Bridge Contest, held by “Mosty” magazine. The jury, consisting of some of the most eminent professors in bridge engineering, appreciated the unique and innovative solutions implemented in the construction project. Before the construction, bridges with comparable span lengths had been only built in Japan (three bridges) and Canada (one).
The viaduct near the PGE Arena in Gdańsk, constructed by Budimex, was given the Bridge Project of 2013 award. The jury of the competition held by the Association of Bridge Builders of the Republic of Poland selected the viaduct in the “Structure of ingenious engineering solutions, suiting the surroundings” category
Another Budimex construction project, the reconstruction of the historical complex of the Wrocław Główny railway station, was given a special award for the best historical building restoration project. The award was granted in the 23rd edition of the “Beautiful Wroclaw” contest, held under the patronage of the Mayor of Wrocław and the Wrocław Enthusiasts Society.
Budimex improved its position in the ranking of the 500 largest enterprises operating in Poland created by the “Rzeczpospolita” daily, outclassing competitors in the industry. In the 15th edition of the “Rzeczpospolita” 500 List, our company was ranked in position 39, improving on its previous year's ranking by two places.
What deserves particular attention is the acknowledgement of Budimex's efforts in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Following a three-stage verification, the company has continually been listed in the RESPECT Index since 2011. The RESPECT Index comprises the most responsibly managed companies on the Warsaw trading floor.
Budimex was also one of 20 companies awarded the CSR Silver Leaf in the “Polityka” 500 List. A CSR study was conducted alongside the publication of the 500 largest companies list. The study followed the ISO 26000 standard, which provides practical guidelines for corporate social responsibility, sets a CSR framework and explains CSR principles and values.
